Who we are and what we do

Activities of the Honorary Consulate

The tasks of a honorary consul are essentially the following:

• assistance in the cooperation between SME’s of Saxony/Saxony-Anhalt and South Africa
• contact office for South African business people visiting Germany
• preparation of information
• representation of South Africa at functions
• consular routine tasks
• support of the exchange of young people especially students
• support of cultural and sporty cooperation

Our Mission

In principal we would like to focus on the following targets:

1. Development of stabile connections to organizations and persons which have a potential interest in or already have a cooperation with South Africa:

• small and medium enterprises from the economy,
• trading concerns,
• schools,
• sports organizations,
• academic institutions,
• personalities,
• tourism enterprises

2. Building-up an interim system of students exchange between Saxony/Saxony-Anhalt and South Africa (similar to the existing system with USA and England)

 3. First activities for initiating the improvement of the cooperation between SMEs of Saxony/Saxony-Anhalt and South Africa

 4. Initiation of scientific contacts between scientific institutions in Saxony / Saxony-Anhalt and South Africa, for example by promoting the possibilities of the South African scientific institutions in Saxony / Saxony-Anhalt

 5. Activities for supporting the tourism

• build-up an association of independent tourism enterprises in Saxony/Saxony-Anhalt which are active for South Africa,
• realisation of a yearly information evening with representatives of South Africa in preparation with the Embassy

6. Realization of presentations and information events on the Republic of South Africa
